Have you ever wondered what it would be like to take what was once a commercial or public space and reimagine it as the home of your dreams? There is a lot of that going on in Baltimore right now – old mills are being converted into condominiums and warehouses are becoming artist work/live spaces. How about a decommissioned church?

Take a look at 1925 Greenspring Valley Road – a stunning renovation of Stevenson Methodist Church on 2 beautifully landscaped acres. This lovingly restored home will take your breath away with incredible architectural details including large arched windows and soaring ceilings, and gorgeous newly refinished floors.

All of the hard work has been done. The current owner replaced the roof an all the systems including a new furnace, central air conditioning and upgraded electric. Loving attention to detail included replacing both sets of front doors (in the base of the bell tower) and the door from the parking area. New ones were made in Pennsylvania, exactly matching the originals, but thicker and heavier.
The main floor includes a corner office constructed from glass paned pocket doors reclaimed from a Bolton Hill home, an enormous main room with arched ceiling, long wide hallway with sectioned off sitting room, and a beautiful bathroom with tiled steam shower and vanity made from antique dresser.

A loft was added to serve as a bedroom, and architectural plans have been drawn up that would add a second loft bedroom and bath. Arched doors in the loft bedroom open to overlook the main gallery.
The large but bare bones kitchen is just waiting for a visionary to create a stunning showplace for entertaining. And speaking of entertaining – can you imagine the parties that can be held in the main church area?
Kitchen possibilities are endless! Click slideshow below.
I also think it would be an amazing artist’s work/live space, an architect’s dream project, a dancer’s private studio, or a wonderful writer’s retreat.
Maybe you've always dreamed of an open expanse like that pictured on the right. Make is work for you with our church on the left.
