Roland Park Stone Colonial Close to Schools and Shopping: You Can Have it All!

This stone Colonial in North Roland Park has everything you look for in a vintage home, along with the modern updates you need. Gracious style abounds from the moment you enter through the large wooden double door with granite surround and pediment. The stone exterior, hardwood floors, deep windowsills, and vintage millwork emphasize the graceful elegance of this 1940s classic.

From the marble-floored vestibule, enter a large foyer enhanced by a brass chandelier and wide moldings. The light-filled front-to-back hallway leads through French doors to the mudroom and large backyard bluestone patio.

The large living room runs the full width of the house and features crown molding, recessed lights and a decorative Colonial mantle with dentil molding, marble surround and hearth. Four large windows with custom shades let in enormous amounts of natural light.

Crown molding and wainscoting adorn the formal dining room and the chandelier in the will cast a warm glow over holiday meals. Deep windowsills here provide the opportunity to display your favorite vase of flowers.

A pocket door leads to the modern kitchen, where you will find cherry cabinets, granite countertops and a two-tiered island and breakfast bar. A mudroom with pantry and powder room leads to the back entrance to patio and garage.

A fabulous monkey-tail railing draws the eye up the lovely stairway to the second level, where you will find three bedrooms, including the large primary. The primary bath has been updated with a double vanity and glass doors into the shower/tub combination. Improvements to the bedrooms include built-in closets and window seats.

The third floor is one large room with hardwood floors, charming gabled ceiling and a walk-in cedar closet with window. Will it be a fourth bedroom? A private office? Game room? You decide.

Exposed stone walls and wood-burning fireplace are standouts in the lower level family room. Large enough for a seating area and a ping-pong table, this may become your favorite casual hangout. Glass block windows let in light while ensuring privacy, and glass block is used again as a wall in the lower level half bath. A wall of built in shelves and cupboards provides an abundance of storage.

Outside, the stone exterior is echoed in the landscaping walls, 2-car garage and private patio. An iron gate with a pair of lion statues guards the walkway to the back, while the extensive level side yard is perfect for a game of croquet or firepit. See our blog on side yards.

Not only is this 5515 Roland Avenue ready for you to move in, it is also within a short walking distance of Gilman, Bryn Mawr, Boys Latin, Roland Park Country School and Roland Park Elementary. For the grownups there is Eddie’s and Starbucks.
